I’m sharing our family’s absolute favourite morning hack – freezer-friendly breakfast sandwiches that my 4-year-old absolutely loves.
Let’s be honest – getting kiddos ready for school while trying to serve a wholesome breakfast can feel like juggling flaming torches sometimes.
But what if I told you that you could have warm, delicious, homemade breakfast sandwiches ready in minutes?
These sandwiches are like having a breakfast fairy godmother in your freezer!
I used to be quite skeptical about freezer sandwiches because reheating them seemed like I would lose all the flavour.
I have figured out how to freeze them properly so they are as fresh as possible when they are reheated.
Make Ahead Breakfast Sandwiches
Ingredients
- 8 English muffins or bagels toasted
- 8 large eggs
- 8 slices of cheddar cheese
- 8 slices of bacon sausage patties, or ham
- 2 tablespoons butter or cooking spray
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Toast the bread until golden brown and let it cool. Cook bacon, sausage, or ham and pat dry. Cook the eggs either individually or on a sheet pan.
- Layer the sandwich: bread, protein, egg, cheese, and top with bread. Let cool completely. Wrap each sandwich in parchment or foil and store in freezer bags or containers.
- To reheat, microwave or warm in the oven, and add fresh toppings if desired.
Why Your Family Will Love These
- Kids think it’s SO cool to help assemble their own “sandwich factory”
- Perfect for those “Mom, I’m hungryyyyy!” moments
- Customizable for picky eaters (my little one loves creating “faces” with different toppings!)
- Healthier and more budget-friendly than drive-through breakfast
The Morning Magic (Reheating Instructions)
When breakfast time rolls around:
- Unwrap your sandwich
- Give it a new blanket (damp paper towel)
- Choose your warming method:
- Microwave Magic: 1-2 minutes at 50% power, then 1-2 minutes at full power
- Oven Magic: 20-30 minutes at 350°F (175°C), wrapped in foil
- Air Fryer: 6 minutes at 350°F, keeps the bacon super crisy
