My sweet tooth can be overpowering, there are many times when I can’t say no to a late-night treat.
I am always looking for tasty snack ideas.
I have always been a fan of eating cookie dough straight out of the tube (I know you aren’t supposed to but I can’t help myself).
That is why I came up with this simple recipe to work through my late-night cravings.
I’ll also answer some common questions about cookie dough!
How long does opened cookie dough last in the fridge?
Opened cookie dough typically lasts about 3 to 5 days in the refrigerator when stored in an airtight container (source). This helps maintain its freshness and prevents it from drying out or absorbing other odours from the fridge.
If you’ve purchased commercially produced cookie dough, it might last a bit longer, up to about a week, depending on the preservatives used (source). Always check the packaging for any specific storage instructions and expiration dates.
For homemade cookie dough, sticking to the 3 to 5-day guideline is safest to ensure the best quality and taste (source). If you need to store it for longer, consider freezing the dough, which can extend its life significantly.
Can you put cookie dough in the microwave?
Yes, you can put cookie dough in the microwave to make a quick cookie, although the texture and taste may differ from oven-baked cookies. To do this, place a small ball of cookie dough on a microwave-safe plate and microwave it on high for about 30 to 60 seconds, or until the dough looks dry and slightly puffed up (source).
Keep in mind that microwaved cookies might be softer and less crispy than those baked in an oven. It’s a convenient method for a quick treat but may not replicate the full oven-baked experience (source).
Can you freeze Pillsbury cookie dough?
Yes, you can freeze Pillsbury cookie dough. Freezing is a great way to extend its shelf life and have ready-to-bake cookies on hand. Pillsbury cookie dough can be frozen for up to two months if placed in the freezer before the “use-by” date printed on the package (source).
To freeze, you can either leave the dough in its original packaging or portion it into individual cookie-sized balls and freeze them on a baking sheet before transferring them to a freezer-safe bag or container. This makes it easy to bake just a few cookies at a time without thawing the entire batch (source).
